P0299 Howo — underboost, causes and repair

Actual boost is below command. Field classics: split intercooler, dead turbo, collapsed air filter.

Which trucks see it

WP10–WP13 and MC11/MC13 on Howo T7H, Sitrak, Shacman X3000/6000.

Symptoms

• no pull
• black smoke
• intake whistle

Likely causes

• Air leak at hoses/intercooler.
• Turbo shaft / VGT carbon.
• Blocked air filter.

What to check

1. Soapy water on joints.
2. Shaft play and oil in the cold side.
3. Air filter and intake hose.
4. Desired vs actual boost.

Can you keep driving

You can limp if the turbo is not chewing itself. Do not lug it uphill.
